St. Bonaventure, N.Y. – (May 22, 2021) – In a series that saw just about everything, the Fordham Rams, led by their senior class, rallied from a 10-4 deficit, scoring ten runs over the final four innings to come away with the 14-12 win over the St. Bonaventure Bonnies at Fred Handler Park in the season finale for both teams.
Each team scored twice in the second inning before the fireworks really got going in the third. Fordham went ahead 3-2 on a solo home run by
Zach Selinger and then 4-2 on a sacrifice fly by
Colton Snelling. The Bonnies answered with a three-run home run by Tyler Kelder to grab a 5-4 edge.
St. Bonaventure then rallied for five runs in the fifth, getting two runs on a pair of errors, while notching three on a three-run home run by Matt Williams for a 10-4 lead.
The Rams then began their comeback with a three-run sixth, picking up a two-run extra base hit by
Casey Brown and an RBI-single by
Andy Semo.

After St. Bonaventure netted one run in the sixth, Fordham scored three times in the seventh, highlighted by a two-run single by Snelling, to close within one, 11-10. The Rams' momentum continued in the eighth, scoring twice to take a 12-11 lead. First, a sacrifice fly by Selinger tied the game, while
Alvin Melendez put Fordham ahead with a solo home run to left center, his third of the season.
Fordham added two more runs in the ninth to go up three, 14-11, getting an RBI-double by
C.J. Vazquez and an RBI-single from
Nick Labella. Then in the bottom of the ninth,
Alex Hernandez was able to get a double play and a strikeout to close out the game for his first career save.
James Springer (1-1) earned his first collegiate win, pitching two scoreless innings of relief with a strikeout. At the plate, it was the Rams' playing in their final game that led the way. Melendez was 3-for-4 with a home run and four runs scored, while Labella was 3-for-6 with two runs scored and an RBI. Brown and Snelling each collected three RBI in the game with Vazquez going 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, and an RBI.
With the win, Fordham ends the season with a 24-19 record, 11-9 in the Atlantic 10.
