Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham softball team's win streak was ended by Army at 20 straight, the second-longest stretch in program history, 4-3, but the Rams began a new one with a 3-2 win in game two of Saturday's doubleheader. With the day's results, Fordham moves to 24-4 overall, while the Blank Knights are now 6-9.

Fordham led game one for nearly the entire contest until the Black Knights, aided by an error, struck for a go-ahead two-out, three-run home run in the top of the seventh to hand Madie Aughinbaugh her first loss of the season in 13 starts. The script was flipped in game two as Army struck first and the hosts had to cobble together three one-run innings to earn the win. Devon Miller struck out nine and held the Black Knights off the board after the third.

The Rams plated two in the opening inning of the day thanks to an error that extended the frame with the first run scoring on the play, a throwing error from third on a throw to try and get Rachel Hubertus out at second on a grounder by Bella Ayala, allowing Sarah Taffet to score. Bailey Enoch then drove in Hubertus with a single down the left field line. Army halved the deficit in the second through a solo home run from Megan Muffett but the Rams answered right away through an Aughinbaugh, Brianna Pinto double steal, the latter's theft of home the 50th of her career.

After four scoreless innings, the visitors took the lead after a Julia Martine error with one out in the seventh. Kayla Edwards singled and the two runners advanced on a passed ball. Aughinbaugh struck out Brook Mitchell for the second out but Angelina Bebek's line drive to right center fell over the wall and Fordham's top of the order went down in order in the bottom half of the frame.

Army's Ally Snelling drove in both runs of game two, first on a two-out triple in the first inning and then a two-out double in the third. Again Fordham responded right away with Aughinbaugh driving in Michaela Carter with a sacrifice fly after she had singled and Pinto had doubled. Enoch stepped up in the fourth and powered a solo home run to left to tie the contest up and, leading off the sixth, Martine put Fordham up for good with a solo shot to nearly the same spot. Miller struck out her first two batters in the seventh and induced a flyout after a Bebek two-out double to see things out.

Miller picked up her seventh win of the year by allowing two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out nine. Aughinbaugh punched out eight Black Knights and just one of her four runs allowed was earned. Carter and Enoch enjoyed the team's two multi-hit games, one in each contest, while Pinto stole four more bases on the day, three coming in game one, and is now up to 53 for her career. Hubertus and Pinto also reached base twice in one game apiece with a hit and a walk. Pinto's four steals give her 21 on the season already, tied for fifth-most in program history. The record is 36 by Jessica Hughes in 2016.

Fordham and Army wrap up their four-game series with a doubleheader tomorrow beginning at noon on ESPN+.
