Bronx, N.Y. – (April 10, 2021) – It was another strong day at the diamond for the Fordham baseball team, sweeping a Saturday conference doubleheader from the St. Bonaventure Bonnies, 3-0 and 7-5, at Houlihan Park.
With the sweep, Fordham improves to 15-7 overall, 3-1 in the Atlantic 10, while St. Bonaventure fell to 2-11 on the year, 1-3 in the league.
In game one, Fordham pitcher
Matt Mikulski was the star of the game, throwing his second consecutive complete game shutout in a 3-0 win in seven innings.
Mikulski was the story, allowing only three baserunners the entire game, while the lone hit by the Bonnies came in the sixth inning, a single to left center by Brendan Myers. Besides that blemish, the Bonnies could not figure out Mikulski, as he posted a career-best 16 strikeouts in the victory, improving to 5-0 on the year. Today's game also moved him into fourth place on Rams' career strikeout list with 216, passing three Fordham Athletics Hall of Famers, Cory Riordan (201), Tom Davis (205), and Pete Harnisch (213), among others.
The Rams' offense got going for the only runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. With one out,
Jason Coules singled to left and moved to second on a walk to
Jake Guercio.
Zach Selinger then singled through the left side to score Coules from second.
Nick Labella then singled home Guercio with an error plating the third run of the inning.
In game two, six different Rams had multi-hit games, while
Gabe Karslo went six strong innings, as Fordham took the series finale from the Bonnies, 7-5.

Each team scored twice in the first inning, but Fordham added two runs in the second and one in the third for a 5-2 lead. In the second,
Trey Maeker connected on a solo home run to center field for his second of the season, while Selinger had an RBI-single. The third inning saw the Rams score on a sacrifice fly by Coules.
The Rams made it 6-2 in the sixth inning, when Guercio led off the inning with a triple to center and later scored on a single by
Andy Semo.
The Bonnies battled back within two by the ninth inning, and got the tying run on base, but
Joseph Quintal got Myers to ground into a 5-3 double play to end the game with a 7-5 score in favor of the Rams.
Gabe Karslo earned the win, moving to 3-1 on the season, allowing two runs on three hits with six strikeouts in six innings of work. At the plate, Guercio was 4-for-5 with a triple, two runs scored, and an RBI, while
Chris Genaro was 3-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored. Selinger and Semo also had two hits and an RBI each.

th, when they host Army West Point at 3:00 PM.
