Men’s Soccer Downs La Salle, 2-0

Galen Flynn & Florian Deletioglu Score for Fordham, while Josh Levine Posts Eight Saves in Shutout

Philadelphia, Pa. – (March 30, 2021) – Behind a superb effort in net by Josh Levine and goals by Galen Flynn and Florian Deletioglu, the Fordham men's soccer team stayed unbeaten with a 2-0 victory over the La Salle Explorers at McCarthy Stadium in Philadelphia.

With the win, Fordham improved to 4-0-1 on the year, 2-0-1 in the Atlantic 10, while La Salle fell to 4-3-1 overall, 1-1-1 in the league.

After the first 20 minutes of action saw no scoring, the Rams took a hit in the 21st minute, when Matt Sloan was forced to leave the game with an injury.

His teammates would promptly pick him up in the 27th minute, scoring the first goal of the game.  Galen Flynn got the ball near the top of the box and put on a ball handling clinic, getting around two La Salle defenders and lifting a shot over a sliding out keeper for his first career goal.

The Rams then made it 2-0 in the opening minute of the second half.  Following a failed header clearance by a La Salle defender, Florian Deletioglu picked up the ball near the top of the box.  He took two touches and stopped on a dime to get away from an Explorer defender.  He then rocketed a shot to the right side of goal for his third marker of the season.

Fordham goalkeeper Josh Levine and the Fordham defense made those two goals stand, posting the team's third shutout of the season.  Levine was brilliant in net, posting a season-high eight saves in the winning effort.

The Rams are next in action on Saturday, April 3rd, when the Rams host Massachusetts for an 11:00 AM start.
