Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham volleyball team fell in straight sets to Rhode Island on Wednesday afternoon in the Rams' home finale, 21-25, 23-25, 16-25. With the loss, their second straight, the Rams fall to 5-3 on the year and 5-2 in Atlantic 10 action.

"Definitely a learning moment for us." Head coach Ian Choi said, "It's new for our team to have the lead in the standings. It's clear that their mindsets are altered when they're atop the standings instead of chasing the top. I know this team is better than today's performance. We anticipate the next four days of practice to be productive and intense."

Whitley Moody recorded a match-high 13 kills, hitting .379, to lead the offense, adding five digs and two blocks. McKenna Lahr, honored before the match with a short ceremony, finished her final contest in the Rose Hill Gym with nine kills and 13 digs, plus two blocks and an ace. Isabel Fichtel continued her two-block-per-set pace with six, one solo, with the team tallying 8.0 as a whole to Rhode Island's 2.0.

Bella Ureña and Aria De La Rosa each notched five kills apiece, the latter hitting .500 on 10 attacks. Megan Brzozowski finished with 30 assists, five digs, a block, and a kill, Mallory Lipski had a match-high 17 digs, and Aneliesa Cartledge enjoyed three digs and an ace off the bench. Also coming off the bench to make their season debuts were junior Claire O'Neil, who had one loud spike on her lone attack, and freshman Lauren Arzuaga.

The Rams control their own destiny to make their first trip to the Atlantic 10 Championship in 11 seasons. A win over Rhode Island on Sunday in Kingston would seal their advancement. The top seed in the league will host the top two seeds from each division. Sunday's match begins at 4 p.m.
