Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham volleyball team picked up its fourth straight Atlantic 10 on Wednesday with its first sweep of the new campaign, dropping Rhode Island in straight sets inside the Rose Hill Gym. With the win, the Rams improve to 4-1 overall and 4-0 in league play, while Rhody falls to 3-7 and 2-3, respectively.

"Another solid team win for us." Head coach Ian Choi said, "Particular props to Chloe for stepping up and executing our blocking scheme. Also, Joey had a great all-around game. I'm ecstatic for our entire team and grateful to see the wins on the board. It's validating to see the process pay off."

In all three sets, the two schools traded points for several points before Fordham took the lead and ran with it, breezing to a 25-20, 25-19, 25-23, sweep. Two-time reigning Rookie of the Week Whitley Moody again led the offense but enjoyed her most efficient match of her young career – hitting .417 on 36 attacks, racking up a match-high 17 kills.  Reigning Co-Defensive Player of the Week Isabel Fichtel kept up her two block per set average, tallying seven on the day, while Megan Brzozowski recorded a 27-assist, 10-dig double-double with four block assists and two aces.

Libero Mallory Lipski led the way with 16 digs plus three assists and an ace, while McKenna Lahr chipped in eight kills and nine digs and Joey Landeros added five kills and six digs. Chloe Pejouan came off the bench for three blocks, one solo. The team hit a season-best .245 and made it four matches in five with double-digit blocks.

It was the first match of the season that didn't last four frames. Fordham will now head to La Salle this weekend for matches on Friday and Saturday at 5 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
