Bronx, N.Y. –  The Fordham University Rams continue the 2021-2022 season, Fordham's 119th varsity season, by opening play at the 2021 Gulf Coast Showcase by facing the University of Akron Zips in the Hertz Arena on Monday, November 22, at 5:00 p.m.

The game will be broadcast live on FLOHOOPS and streamed on www.wfuvsports.org with Nick DeLuca (p-b-p) and Ryan Gregware (color) behind the mics.

• Fordham enters the game with a 2-2 record after a 75-73 double overtime loss to Maryland Eastern Shore in the Rose Hill Gym on Friday night while Akron is 2-1 on the season after a 99-38 win over Wheeling University at home on Thursday.

Monday night's contest will be the first meeting between Fordham and Akron on the hardwood. The Rams have played five other MAC teams (Bowling Green, Kent State, Miami (OH), Ohio, and Western Michigan).

Notes

• After missing most of the 2020-2021 season, graduate student forward Chuba Ohams has wasted little time displaying that he was back, recording a double-double in each of the first four games.

• Ohams started with 13 points and a career-high 15 rebounds in the season-opening win over Columbia and then bettered his career-high with 18 rebounds to go with 17 points at Manhattan. He followed that with 12 points and 12 boards vs. St. Thomas and ten points and 12 boards against UMES.

• Ohams leads the Atlantic 10 and is second in the NCAA in rebounding (14.3 rpg).

• Graduate student guard Darius Quisenberry is third in the Atlantic 10 in scoring, averaging 18.5 ppg.

• Sophomore guard Kyle Rose had a career night vs. St. Thomas, scoring 22 points and pulling down six rebounds, both career-highs.

• Rose shot 6-for-12 from behind the arc.

• Fordham head coach Kyle Neptune became the first Fordham head men's basketball coach to win in his debut since 1986.
