Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Outlasted by UMES

Chuba Ohams records fourth straight double-double

Bronx, N.Y. – Don't be surprised if the Fordham University men's basketball team doesn't schedule any more Friday night games. For the second straight Friday night, the Rams came up short, falling to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, 75-73, in double overtime in the Rose Hill Gym.

With the loss, Fordham evens its record at 2-2 while Maryland Eastern Shore improves to 2-2.

The Rams were led by graduate student guard Darius Quisenberry who scored a game-high 25 points, while junior guard Antonio Daye, Jr., added 20 to go with five assists. Graduate student forward Chuba Ohams notched his fourth straight double-double with ten points and 12 rebounds.

Trailing by two with 42 seconds left in regulation, sophomore guard Kyle Rose forced the first overtime when he connected on a pair of free throws to tie the game at 59. The Rams had a chance for the win in regulation but an Ohams three-pointer at the buzzer was off.

With six seconds left in the first overtime, Da'Shawn Phillip gave the Hawks a 68-66 lead but Daye took the inbounds pass and drove the length of the court, laying the ball in with a second left to force a second overtime.

Fordham led by five in the second overtime, 73-68, but six straight UMES points gave the visitors a 74-73 lead with 54 seconds remaining. Daye drove the lane with five seconds left but his shot was blocked and went out of bounds off him. UMES then hit one of two free throws and the clock expired before the Rams could get off a shot.
