Bronx, N.Y. – Fordham fans had to wait a few more minutes for the start of the 2021-2022 season as the preceding Fordham women's game went to overtime. But graduate student guard
Darius Quisenberry wasted little time in rewarding the Fordham faithful, scoring 20 of his game-high 25 points in the first half to lead the Rams to a 77-67 season-opening win over Columbia University in the Rose Hill Gym.
Quisenberry shot 6-for-12 from behind the arc and added four rebounds while graduate student forward
Chuba Ohams chipped in with a double-double, scoring 13 points and adding a career-high 15 rebounds. Junior guard
Antonio Daye, Jr. and sophomore guard
Antrell Charlton each added 12 points for Fordham.
The Rams jumped out to a 14-6 lead over the first four minutes and then used a 19-9 run to take a 33-15 lead on a Daye three midway through the half.
Fordham would get the lead to as many as 22 later in the half, 49-27, and took a 49-33 advantage into the break.
