Men’s Soccer Downs George Mason, 2-1

Jacob Bohm & Sebastian Fabrin Each Net First Goal of the Season for Fordham

Bronx, N.Y. – (October 9, 2021) – The Fordham men's soccer team posted back-to-back victories for the first time this season, as after beating Davidson on Wednesday, the Rams downed the George Mason Patriots, 2-1, at Jack Coffey Field on Saturday night.

With the win, Fordham has won three of its last four contests to improve to 5-7-1 overall, 3-2 in the Atlantic 10, while George Mason fell to 2-9-1 on the year, 0-4 in the league.

The Rams took advantage of set piece opportunities against the Patriots, the first of which came in the 31st minute.  Max Rogers placed a free kick into the center of the box, where Jacob Bohm headed home his first goal of the season from eight yards out for the 1-0 lead.

Then in the second half, it was another set piece that gave Fordham a 2-0 lead in the 55th minute.  Rogers again started the play off, this time on a corner kick, that found the head of Sebastian Fabrin for his first goal of the season.

The Rams' defense did not allow much for George Mason, as the Patriots had just two shots on goal and eight shots overall.  The Patriots did convert on one of those chances, as Balint Kocso scored his third of the season of assists from Jose Alvarado and Linus Dahl in the 70th minute.

However, George Mason would get no closer as they did not have a shot on goal for the rest of the contest.

After the cancellation of the team's match with Hofstra, the Rams will next be in action on Saturday, October 16th, as they head to Rhode Island for a 7:00 PM match.
