Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham volleyball team played the defending champions tough but ultimately fell in straight sets, 16-25, 19-25, 11-25, on Friday evening to the Flyers. With the loss, the Rams fell to 6-15 overall and 3-7 in league action, while Dayton improved to 19-5 and 12-0, respectively.
The offense was led by sophomore
Whitley Moody's seven kills, just ahead of
Bella Ureña's six and
Aria De La Rosa's five. Moody added 10 digs, just two off
Mallory Lipski's team-high 12, while
Izzy Fichtel produced a match-high five blocks.
Megan Brzozowski notched 22 assists, three digs, and two blocks, with Moody and
Ryan Naumann posting the team's two aces.
The Flyers hit .330 on the evening with 47 kills to Fordham's 24, but had just two fewer attack errors than the hosts, 16 to 14. Fordham hit .092 and had just one fewer block. Dayton posted eight aces, as well.
Fordham is right back in action tomorrow at 6 p.m. against Duquesne, with ESPN+ carrying live coverage, as always.
