Luke McNamara Nets Second Goal of the Season for Fordham

Princeton, N.J. – (October 26, 2021) – Princeton's Daniel Diaz Bonilla rebound goal off a Kevin O'Toole shot off the crossbar in the 51st minute proved to be the difference maker on Tuesday night, as the Tigers topped the Fordham Rams, 2-1, at the Class of 1952 Stadium in Princeton, N.J.

The Tigers took the initial lead in the 21st minute of action, as Ryan Clare got to a loose ball in the box and fired a shot that was stopped by Fordham goalkeeper Callum James.  The rebound went right to Fra Akomeah-Sirleaf at the top of the six-yard box, who knocked the ball in for his third marker of the season.

Just about 13 minutes later, Fordham knotted the game at one with some pinpoint precision.  Sameer Fathazada got the ball wide to Max Rogers on the left side of the field.  Rogers put a cross into the box, near the penalty spot, where Luke McNamara headed home his second goal of the season into the right side of the net.

The Tigers then regained the lead in the 51st minute, taking advantage of another fortunate bounce.  Kevin O'Toole fired a shot on the rush that hit the crossbar and came out to Daniel Diaz Bonilla, who knocked home his third goal of the season on the rebound shot.

Fordham had multiple chances over the final 39 minutes, but the best was certainly in the 87th minute, as a head pass back across the box by Matt Sloan found Galen Flynn for a one-timer, but Princeton's Sam Morton came up with a diving stop to secure the win for Princeton.

Morton finished with four saves for the Tigers, while James had seven saves for Fordham.

The Rams now direct their attention to the team's regular season finale on Saturday, October 30th, against the Saint Joseph's Hawks, beginning at 3:00 PM on Jack Coffey Field with Senior Day ceremonies prior to the game.
