Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham women's tennis team had its first dual match of the fall season and came away with a 6-1 win over Wagner College on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts on Saturday.
Fordham open play by taking the doubles point, winning all three matches.
Avery Aude and Carlotta Casasamper took first doubles from Samantha Lutgu and Gabrielle Perraudin, 6-1, while Valeriya Demonova and
Nicole Li were victorious at the second spot over Fidan Khalidzade and Tara Dakic, 7-5.
Eleni Fasoula and
Rachelle Yang made it a clean sweep for Fordham with a 6-3 win at third doubles over Alegra d'Alessandro and Mia Groetsch.
The Rams then won five of the six singles matches, all in straight sets, for the 6-1 victory. Deminova was victorious at second singles (7-5, 6-0), Casasamper took the third position (6-2, 6-1), and Fasouka won at fourth singles (6-3, 6-0). Other winners for Fordham were Li at the fifth position (6-1, 6-1) and Yang at sixth singles (7-5, 6-1).
The Rams return to action on October 23 as they open play at the Fordham Invitational on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts.
