Bronx, N.Y. – The first time Fordham and Duquesne met on the hardcourt this year it was a defensive battle, won by the Dukes, 48-45, in Pittsburgh. Tonight was a different story as Duquesne scored 48 points in the first half and dropped the Rams, 86-62 in an Atlantic 10 game in the Rose Hill Gym.
With the loss, Fordham falls to 1-8 overall, 1-8 in the Atlantic 10, while Duquesne improves to 5-6 overall, 4-5 in the conference.
Sophomore guard
Chris Austin led the Rams with 19 points, hitting four three-pointers, while junior guard
Ty Perry added 13 and sophomore forward
Joel Soriano recorded a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.
The Rams trailed by three, 10-7, following an Austin free throw 5:22 into the game when Duquesne scored eleven straight points to take a 21-7 lead on a Tyson Acuff three-point play midway through the half.
Fordham managed to get the deficit back to eight, 23-15, on a Perry three with 7:46 left but the Dukes quickly got the lead back to double figures and closed out the half with a 23-point lead, 48-25.
