Kaitlyn Downey was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on Monday, the league office announced, after leading the Rams to a season-opening win at Stony Brook last Wednesday. This is Downey's first career weekly accolade from the conference.

Downey, one of three team captains this year after serving as one as a sophomore a year ago, put up a massive 16-point, 20-rebound double-double over just 30 minutes of action against the Seawolves, shooting 3-of-5 from behind the arc, as well. She became just the seventh Ram to reach the 20-rebound milestone, tying for 11
th all-time in a single contest and seventh-most in a road or neutral game. Downey also handed out three assists to just one turnover and corralled five boards on the offensive glass.

The Hastings-on-Hudson native averaged 9.7 points per game a season ago while appearing in all 32 contests, making 31 starts. She led the team in blocks, with 23, while adding 68 assists and 35 steals and shooting 38.1.% from the floor.

Fordham's home opener against Manhattan, originally scheduled for this Wednesday evening, has been cancelled due to positive COVID-19 test results for the Jaspers. The Rams will next be in action this Saturday at Quinnipiac, with tip-off set for 2 p.m.
