Bre Cavanaugh picked up the Fordham Women's Basketball program's and the Atlantic 10's first Player of the Week award of the new decade on Monday, the league office announced. Cavanaugh earned her second award of the year and sixth for her career by leading the Rams to two victories last week.

Fordham is currently on an eight-game win streak after starting the season 1-5. The Rams picked up their third consecutive Holiday Classic championship last Monday by defeating Houston and then began A-10 play on Saturday at home in a blowout win over St. Bonaventure. Cavanaugh was named to the All-Tournament team following the former.
Against the Cougars, Cavanaugh led the Rams with 19 points and three steals and finished second in the squad with five rebounds and four assists over 39 minutes. Against the Bonnies, the redshirt junior played a season-low 33 minutes but couldn't be stopped during her time on the court, scoring 29 points on an ultra-efficient 10-of-14 shooting overall and 5-of-6 from three-point range, plus four free throws. She chipped in three boards and a steal, as well.
For the week, Cavanaugh averaged 24.0 points on 43.2% shooting with eight threes (42.1%), 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks over 36.0 minutes without committing a turnover.
Dropping from the top-five after Saturday's win, she still ranks ninth overall with 38.2 minutes played per game, first in the Atlantic 10. She also leads the conference in free throws attempted (70) and made (58) and is second in points per game (17.6). She is within the top-100 in several other categories, as well.
Fordham returns to action this Wednesday with its first road contest in a month, playing at Davidson at 11 a.m. ESPN+ and WFUV 90.7 FM will carry live coverage.
