St. Louis, Mo. – The Lunar New Year ushered in the Year of the Rat on Saturday. The rat is the first of the 12 signs in the Chinese zodiac. According to one myth, the Jade Emperor said the order would be decided by the order in which they arrived to his party. The Rat tricked the Ox into giving him a ride. Then, just as they arrived at the finish line, Rat jumped down and landed ahead of Ox, becoming first. The Saint Louis Billikens played the role of rat today, landing ahead of Fordham 55-39, in an Atlantic 10 game in the Chaifetz Arena.
With the loss, Fordham falls to 7-12 overall, 1-6 in the Atlantic 10, while Saint Louis improves to 15-5 overall, 4-3 in the conference.
Sophomore guard
Jalen Cobb led the Rams with 12 points while senior guard
Antwon Portley, seeing his first action since December 20, netted seven and added four rebounds.
The Billikens jumped out to a 10-0 lead and led by 16 at the break, 32-16. The closest the Rams would get in the second half was 12, 50-38, on a
Joel Soriano jumper with 2:47 remaining.
