Volleyball Defeated at LIU Brooklyn in Five-Set Thriller

Rams Fall to 7-5 on the Season

Brooklyn, N.Y. – The Fordham volleyball team fell in a five-set thriller at LIU Brooklyn on Friday night, concluding three straight days of matches. The Sharks won 25-22, 20-25, 15-25, 25-21, 16-14. With the loss, the Rams fall to 7-5 heading into league action.
 
"Our last nonconference match was definitely a great learning experience for this squad, especially since the match went to five sets," Head coach Ian Choi said, "Great competitive atmosphere in the gym that will definitely prepare us for conference play next week."
 
Both teams tallied 56 kills on the night with the Rams outhitting the Sharks, .197 to .153. The Rams notched 15.0 total blocks, matching their season-high from the season-opening win over Lamar. The team also notched 94 digs over five sets, nearly reaching the 100-dig mark for the second time in the last week.
 
On offense, McKenna Lahr led the way with 14 kills, following by 12 from Olivia Fairchild and a season-high-matching 10 kills by Aria De La Rosa, the latter hitting .353 on 17 attempts. Lahr added 17 digs and seven block assists for her seventh double-double of the year and fourth straight. Also racking up double-doubles were Fairchild, who fell one digs shy of her career-high of 18 and who added five blocks and three aces, and Megan Brzozowski, who racked up a season-high 43 assists to go with 16 digs, four kills, and three aces. Morgan Williams totaled 28 digs and four assists.
 
The Rams begin Atlantic 10 play next Saturday at Rhode Island at 4 p.m.
