Volleyball Announces 2019 Schedule

Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham volleyball team announced its 2019 fall schedule on Thursday, comprised of three preseason tournaments and 26 total contests between late August and mid-November. Due to planned construction at the Rose Hill Gym, the team will play the first half of its season away from home.
 
"It'll be an atypical season since Rose Hill will undergo some exciting renovations until the front end of the season," Head coach Ian Choi said, "The four nonconference weekends away will get us in the right mindset."
 
Fordham will begin its 2019 campaign with three consecutive tournaments, first down in Atlanta at the Georgia State tournament. The Rams will open the season against Lamar on Friday, August 30, at 4 p.m. and then play Western Carolina and Georgia State the following day at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m., respectively. The following weekend, the Rams will compete in the Radford Tournament, playing Norfolk and Rider on September 6 at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively, and the hosts the following day at 10:45 a.m.
 
The next weekend, Fordham will compete in the Dartmouth Tournament, playing Hartford on Friday, September 13 at 4 p.m. and Hofstra and Dartmouth at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., respectively, the next day. The Rams will then take part in the annual Battle of the Bronx, this year hosted by Manhattan on Wednesday night, September 18, at 7 p.m. before solo matches at Columbia (9/19 – 6 p.m.) and LIU Brooklyn (9/20 – 6 p.m.).
 
One week later and the Atlantic 10 season begins in earnest. Fordham will enjoy its bye week right away, playing just once the first weekend – at Rhode Island on Saturday, September 28, at 4 p.m. The road swing will continue at Saint Louis (10/4 – 7 p.m.), Dayton (10/6 – 12 p.m.), Davidson (10/11 – 7 p.m.), and VCU (10/13 – 1 p.m.), before the team returns to the Bronx for its home opener against Dayton on Friday, October 18, at 6 p.m. Saint Louis will then visit the Rose Hill Gym the following day at 2 p.m.
 
The next weekend sees the second bye week for the team, this time with Rhode Island visiting Rose Hill, on November 26 at 7 p.m. The next weekend, Duquesne and La Salle arrive to play on November 1 and November 3 at 7 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively. The next weekend Fordham will welcome VCU and Davidson on back-to-back days, November 8 and 9, at 7 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., the latter also serving as Senior Day. Fordham will wrap up its regular season at George Washington and George Mason on consecutive days, November 15 and 16, at 7 p.m. and 5 p.m., respectively.
