Men’s Basketball Travels to Rhode Island on Saturday

Rams take on other A-10 Rams

Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham University Rams continue the 2018-2019 season, Fordham's 116th varsity season, and their 2019 Atlantic 10 schedule by traveling to Kingston, R.I., to face the University of Rhode Island Rams in the Ryan Center on Saturday, February 16, at 2:00 p.m.
 
The game will be broadcast live on the NBC Sports Network with Steve Schlanger  (p-b-p) and Ben Braun (color) announcing and broadcast on WFUV (90.7 FM) with Dominic Capone (p-b-p) and Billy Reinhardt (color) announcing.
 
Fordham enters the game with a 10-14 overall record, 1-10 in the Atlantic 10, and is coming off a 79-69 A-10 loss to Davidson in the Rose Hill Gym on Tuesday night while Rhode Island is 12-11 overall on the season, 5-6 in the conference, after a 77-48 A-10 loss to Dayton in Kingston last Saturday.
 
Saturday afternoon's contest will be the 67th meeting between Fordham and Davidson on the hardwood with Rhode Island leading the all-time series, which started in the 1941-42 season, 38-28. Rhode Island won last year's meeting, 78-58, in the Rose Hill Gym behind 20 points from Andre Berry and 17 from Jared Terrell while Will Tavares led Fordham with 17. Fordham won the 206-2017 meeting, 53-43, in Kingston on February 15 as Javontae Hawkins scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Nick Honor was named Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week ending February 10.
 
• It is the fourth weekly honor of the year for the freshman.
 
• Freshman Nick Honor is tenth in the Atlantic 10, and 14th among all NCAA Div. I freshmen, averaging 15.9 ppg.
 
• Honor has scored in double figures in 22 of the 24 games this year.
 
• Junior forwards Chuba Ohams is averaging 8.7 ppg and 6.8 rpg over the last six games while Jesse Bunting is averaging 9.3 ppg and 5.3 rpg over the past four while shooting .615 (16-26) from the field.
 
• The Rams lead the Atlantic 10, and are 29th in the NCAA, in turnover margin at +3.5.
 
• The Rams are second in the Atlantic 10 in three-point shooting percentage (.344) and three-pointers made/game (9.1).
 
• The Rams are led by two captains in 2018-2019, senior forward David Pekarek and senior guard Antwon Portley.
 
• Fordham is one of the youngest teams in the NCAA Div. I this year with eight freshmen and two sophomores on the 17-man roster.
