Washington, D.C./Annapolis, Md. – (November 9, 2019) – With regular season winding down, the 16
th-ranked Fordham water polo knows every conference match could be the difference in seeding for the MAWPC Championship in two weeks. On Saturday, the Rams took care of business, avenging both of their earlier conference losses, taking down #19 George Washington with a 14-13 win, while defeating Navy later in the day, 11-6.
With the win, Fordham improved to 20-5 on the year, 7-2 in the MAWPC. It is Fordham's first 20- win season since 2015.
In game one of Saturday,
Oscar Nomura scored with 38 seconds left to give Fordham a 14-13 victory over the 19
th-ranked George Washington Colonials in Washington, D.C.
Fordham led through most of the game, building up a 7-3 lead by halftime, and leading 11-8 after three quarters. George Washington battled back to tie the game at 11, and eventually took a one-goal lead at 12-11 with 3:13 left.
Jake Miller-Tolt scored for Fordham to knot the game at 12, but Andres Levai, who had led the Colonials' comeback the last time these two teams met, followed with a goal with 1:52 left for a 13-12 lead.
Joseph Agabs answered for the Rams, tying the game at 13 with 1:37 to go.
The Rams played solid defense, getting possession back and getting a man-up opportunity with 56 second left.
Oscar Nomura then scored an extra-man goal to put the Rams back on top. From there, Fordham was able to hold on for the win, as Fordham goalkeeper
Bailey O'Mara was outstanding with 17 saves and a career-high six steals.

Offensively, Miller-Tolt netted four goals and five assists to lead Fordham, while
Tristen Knoflick added three goals and two assists. Nomura,
Phillip Wang, and
Dimitris Koukias each scored twice with Agabs having the final tally.
In match two on Saturday, the Rams used a huge second half surge to secure an 11-6 win at Navy in Annapolis, Maryland.
The match was tight with the score tied at five at the half. From there, the Rams took over outscoring Navy, 6-1 in the second half to win by five.
O'Mara was the story of the game, bettering his performance from earlier in the day with 18 saves, three steals, and two penalty blocks.
Offensively, Miller-Tolt had four goals, two assists, and seven steals, while Wang notched three goals and an assist. Knoflick and Agabs rounded out the scoring with two goals each.
The Fordham water polo team will next be in action on Sunday, November 10
th, as the Rams are at Johns Hopkins at 11:00 AM.
