Lewisburg, Pa. – (November 24, 2019) – Navy's Trevor Clark netted three goals, while goalkeeper Ronan Williams had ten saves as the Midshipmen took a 9-5 decision from the 16
th-ranked Fordham Rams in the third place game at the MAWPC Championship, held at Bucknell University.
The loss ends Fordham's season with a 24-8 record.
After Navy netted the opening goal of the game, the Rams got back-to-back goals by
Tristen Knoflick and
Phillip Wang for a 2-1 lead after the first quarter.
The momentum then shifted in favor of Navy, as they outscored Fordham 3-0 in the second quarter to lead, 4-2 at the half.
Each team scored twice in the third, making it a 6-4 game, heading to the final period. Unfortunately for the Rams, only one goal was scored by
Sebastian Zapatero, leaving Fordham on the wrong end of a 9-5 decision.
For Fordham, Wang finished with two goals, an assist, and two steals, while
Jake Miller-Tolt had a goal, an assist, and three steals.
Jason Hiremath also added seven steals defensively with
Bailey O'Mara making seven stops in net.
Following the conclusion of the tournament, Miller-Tolt, O'Mara, and
Dimitris Koukias were named to the All-Championship Second Team.
