Football Sends Off Seniors with Win Over Bucknell

Trey Sneed Runs for a Pair of Touchdowns in Fordham’s 31-14 Win

Bronx, N.Y. – There are many difference for the Fordham football program over the last four years but there is one thing that has remained constant. The Rams close out the regular season with a win over Bucknell. This year was no exception as the Fordham defense did not allow the Bucknell offense to score and the Ram offense was led by a pair of scoring runs from Trey Sneed as Fordham defeated the Bison, 31-14, in a Patriot League game on Jack Coffey Field.

With the win, Fordham closes out the season with a 4-8 overall record, 2-4 in the Patriot League, while Bucknell finishes with a 3-8 overall mark, 3-3 in the League.

The Fordham defense was led by junior linebacker Glenn Cunningham and sophomore defensive back Anthony Tony-Itoyah, who each made eight total tackles, with Cunningham adding a fumble recovery and Tony-Itoyah a pair of pass breakups. Sophomore linebacker Ryan Greenhagen added six tackles for Fordham, including two for loss and one sack.

Offensively, sophomore quarterback Tim DeMorat completed 23 of 32 passes for 228 yards and one touchdown with freshman receiver DeQuece Carter hauling in ten passes for 87 yards. Junior running back Trey Sneed rushed 16 times for 76 yards and two scores.

The Rams jumped out to a 10-0 lead on a three-yard DeMorat touchdown run late in the first and a 44-yard Andrew Mevis field goal midway through the second. But the Bison took advantage of two Fordham miscues in the final two minutes of the half, scoring on a fumble recovery and an interception return for a score to take a 14-10 lead at the half.

But a one-yard scoring plunge from Sneed with 3:17 left in the third put the Rams up for good, 17-14. The touchdown capped a 17-play, 99-yard drive that took over seven minutes off the clock.

Fordham would tack on a 15-yard scoring run by Sneed and a 27-yard scoring strike from DeMorat to sophomore wide receiver Fotis Kokosioulis in the final three minutes.

Takeaways

They made trips around the Patriot League with their family to help raise awareness, acceptance, inclusion and respect for all individuals with Down Syndrome, handing out "Shane and Wyatt Down Syndrome Awareness" bracelets.

• Shane and Wyatt, who live near Bucknell, served as honorary captains for the Rams despite the fact that they are fixtures at Bucknell football games and other sporting events.

• The Rams have won the past seven meetings with Bucknell but the Bison still lead the all-time series, 18-17.

• With his 30 rushing yards today, junior running back Zach Davis brings his season total to 1,013, as he becomes the ninth Ram to rush for 1,000 yards in a season.

•  Junior kicker Andrew Mevis sent all six of his kickoffs onto the end zone and finished the year with 50 touchbacks on 63 kickoffs.
