Boston, Mass. – Three days after splitting a meet at Marist, the Fordham men's and women's swimming and diving squads traveled up to Boston and saw the same result at Boston University as the women defeated the Terriers, 194-106, while the men fell to the host team, 154.5-125.5.
The Fordham women had three multi-event winners, led by
Amelia Bullock who won the 100 (54.98) and 200 fly (2:02.04) while
Paulina Watson took first in the 100 (58.58) and 200 back (2:04.61). The 200 back was a Fordham affair as the Rams took the top four spots in the event with Watson being followed by
Catherine Alabanza,
Naima Mackrel, and
Bridget Bowen.
Molly Dunn was the third double winner for the Rams, taking first on both the 1M (262.00) and 3M (255.00) boards.
Other winners for the Fordham women were
Clare Culver, who won the 200 free (1:52.93),
Vaula Vekkeli, who was first in the 100 breast (1:06.90) and second in the 200 breast (2:25.12), and
Michelle Martin who won the 50 free (24.29) and took second in the 100 fly (56.92).
Alison Lin also contributed to the win, taking second in three events, the 1000 free (10:32.99), 200 back (2:07.39) and 400 IM (4:29.59).
In women's relays, the Fordham 200 medley relay of Martin, Bullock,
Kiara Norris and
Theresa Mullen won in a time of 1:44.72, followed by the Fordham B team of Mackrel, Vekkeli,
Hannah McGee and
Samantha McDonald, who placed second in 1:47.31.
In the women's 200 free relay, the Fordham team of Martin, McDonald, Bullock and Mullen touched first in a time of 1:35.51.
On the men's side,
Patrick Wilson,
Josh Stegen and
Diego Perez were double winners for the Rams. Wilson touched first in the 100 (57.76) and 200 breast (2:08.07) while Stegen won the 100 (46.93) and 200 (1:41.96) free. Perez won both the 1M (219.85) and 3M (224.10) diving events.
Another winner for the Rams was
Bryce Bollesen, who took first in the 50 free (21.35) while also finishing third in the 100 free (48.23).
Connor Wright (200 back - 1:55.17),
Casey Sawyer (100 fly - 50.63), and
Nathaniel Guenther (400 IM - 4:08.31) all turned in second place finishes for Fordham.
In men's relays, the Fordham 200 free relay of Wilson, Stegen,
Kevin Berry, and Bollesen, tied for first in 1:24.78 while the 200 medley relay of
Spencer Clarke, Wilson, Sawyer, and Stegen placed second in 1:34.75, just 0.34 seconds behind the winning team from Boston University.
The Rams return to action on Saturday, November 9, as they travel to Washington, D.C., to face the Georgetown University Hoyas at 10:00 a.m.
