Football Late TD Beats Georgetown

Tim DeMorat connects with Fotis Kokosioulis on scoring strike with 16 seconds left

Washington, D.C. – Georgetown, the neighborhood in Washington, D.C, is home to the embassies of Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Mongolia, among others. Georgetown, the university, is home to the top ranked Patriot defense in 2019 (and third among the NCAA FCS). That didn't bother the Rams who, down to their last chance, used a 17-yard scoring strike from Tim DeMorat to Fotis Kokosioulis with 16 seconds left to defeat Georgetown, 30-27, in the Patriot League opener for both teams on Cooper Field.

With the win, the Rams improve to 3-4 while Georgetown falls to 4-2.

The Fordham offense was led by junior running back Zach Davis, who rushed 23 times for 138 yards and two scores while DeMorat threw for 214 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively junior linebacker Glenn Cunningham led the Rams with nine tackles, including 3.5 for loss, and two forced fumbles while sophomore linebacker Ryan Greenhagen added eight tackles, six solo.

Things looked gloomy for Fordham after DeMorat was intercepted on the Fordham 34 with 2:57 remaining but the defense held on a fourth down call from the Hoyas as the Rams took over on their own 27 with 1:21 left an no time outs.

Completions to Joe Ferraro (10 yards), Davis (20 yards), and MJ Wright (25 yards) moved the ball to the Georgetown 17 but three straight incompletions left the Rams facing fourth down.

On fourth down, DeMorat lofted a ball to the left corner right into the arms of Kokosioulis for the score.
