Men’s Basketball Travels to George Mason on Saturday

Rams face the Patriots in Atlantic 10 action

Fairfax, Va. - The Fordham University Rams continue the 2018-2019 season, Fordham's 116th varsity season, and continue their 2019 Atlantic 10 schedule by traveling to Fairfax, Va., to face the George Mason University Patriots in the EagleBank Arena on Saturday, January 19, at 7:00 p.m.
 
The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and broadcast live on WFUV (90.7 FM) and on www.wfuvsports.org.
 
Fordham enters the game with a 9-8 overall record, 0-4 in the Atlantic 10, and is coming off a 63-60 A-10 loss to Saint Louis in the Rose Hill Gym on Tuesday night while George Mason is 10-8 overall on the season, 4-1 in the conference, after a 68-63 A-10 win at Massachusetts on Wednesday night.
 
Saturday night's contest will be the tenth meeting between Fordham and George Mason on the hardwood with the Rams leading the all-time series, 7-2, taking the first six meetings. Fordham won last year's meeting, 67-66, in the Rose Hill Gym on February 7, as Propkop Slanina netted 17 points and Will Taveras had eleven points and eleven rebounds.

• Freshman Nick Honor is tenth in the Atlantic 10 and 13th among all NCAA Div. I freshmen, averaging 15.8 ppg.
 
• Honor has scored in double figures in 15 of the 17 games this year.
 
• Fordham is averaging 68.8 ppg this year after averaging 62.3 ppg last year.
 
• The Rams are fifth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring margin at +4.6 ppg.

• Fordham is third in the Atlantic 10, and 28th in the NCAA, in scoring defense, allowing just 64.2 ppg after giving up 70.3 ppg last year.
 
• The Rams are second in the Atlantic 10 with 9.1 three-pointers made/game.
 
• The Rams will be led by two captains in 2018-2019, senior forward David Pekarek and senior guard Antwon Portley.
 
• Besides eight new freshmen, the Rams also welcome two transfers to the lineup in 2018-2019, Portley (Saint Peter's) and senior Erten Gazi (DePaul). Both sat out last year after transferring to Fordham and each will have another year of eligibility remaining.
 
• Fordham is one of the youngest teams in the NCAA Div. I this year with eight freshmen and two sophomores on the 17-man roster.
 
• The Rams are an international team with five players from foreign countries.
