Bronx, N.Y. – Former New York State Senator Chauncey Depew once said "The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are." The Fordham football squad decided today that it wasn't content staying where it is as the Rams opened fall camp to prepare for the 2018 season.
Â
First-year head coach
Joe Conlin guided the Rams through a two-hour workout which started in the Lombardi Fieldhouse due to weather, and ended on Jack Coffey Field as they prepare for the 2018 season opener on September 1 when Fordham travels to Charlotte, N.C., to face the Charlotte 49ers.
Â
Some notes from today's practice:
Â
A few veterans changed uniform numbers with
Joe Ferraro moving from number 41 to 10,
Marcel Deya swapping number 60 for 73,
Anthony Solano changing from number 77 to 94, and
Erik Rottsolk switching from 99 to number 70.
Â
There were many new faces on Jack Coffey Field today with over 25 freshmen taking part in their first collegiate practice.
Â
Former Ram and former Gridiron Club president Judge Robert Holdman, FCRH '86, LAW '91, spoke to the team on Friday night as part of #FAMILYFRIDAY, welcoming the freshmen and highlighting the Fordham Football mentoring program.
Â
The Rams will have a short turnaround time as practice number two is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Â
Individual game tickets for the 2018 home season are now on sale through the
