Men’s Basketball Defeats LCC International

Rams improve to 3-0 in Italy behind 17 Points from Antwon Portley

Costa Masnaga, Italy – The Fordham men's basketball team knew they were in luck when they found out they were playing the Lombardi Region of Italy (though someone has to tell the Italians they are misspelling it Lombardy). Behind 17 points from junior Antwon Portley and 15 from freshman Nick Honor the Rams defeated LCC International University, 73-55, on Friday night.
 
With the win Fordham stays unbeaten on the European trip at 3-0.
 
Some notes on the game:
Portley, who sat out last year at Fordham after transferring from Saint Peter's, has now has 58 points in the three games.
 
Honor finished in double figures for the third straight game.
 
David Pekarek led all rebounders with nine to go with eight points while Erten Gazi and Ty Perry each grabbed eight boards and Chris Downing seven as Fordham outrebounded its opponent 54-45.
 
The Rams played their usual aggressive defense, forcing 27 turnovers and recording 18 steals (Fordham has recorded double digit steals totals in each of three games).
 
Fordham had a long day, after playing last night in Florence, they boarded the bus at 10:00 AM today for the drive to Como where they arrived at 2:30 PM.
 
Associate head coach Rodney Crawford was in charge of the Fordham bench tonight.
 
LCC International University is a nationally and internationally recognized liberal arts institution in the city of Klaipėda, Lithuania.
 
LLC International defeated Kansas State, 80-72, in Rome in 2016.
 
The Rams close out the trip with a game against the Czech Republic National Team on Monday in Prague at 6:00 PM (EST).
