League Release
Newport News, Va. – The Atlantic 10 has today announced its women's basketball conference schedule team pairings for the upcoming 2018-19 season. The league's 14 members will once again play a 16-game conference schedule, allowing schools to face every opponent once and three schools twice. The complete schedule with dates and times will be announced at the later date.
Â
Like last year, Fordham will play a home and home series with Davidson, Dayton, and Saint Louis. The Rams split those six contests a year ago, 3-3, with home victories over the Wildcats and Billikens and a road win over the former. The Rams fell by one point, 63-62, to the eventual regular season champion Flyers at home in mid-January.
Â
Fordham will host Duquesne, George Mason, Massachusetts, Richmond, and VCU, and will travel to reigning league champions George Washington, La Salle, Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure, and Saint Joseph's. The Rams were eliminated from the A-10 Championship by the Hawks in last year's quarterfinals on a last-second three.
Â
The Rams were one of seven Atlantic 10 schools to earn a postseason berth. Fordham matched its longest run in a postseason tournament in program history when it defeated Harvard at home and came from behind to beat Drexel on the road before falling at Virginia Tech in the WNIT Sweet Sixteen. The Rams have now earned postseason berths in five of the last six campaigns under head coach
Stephanie Gaitley, which represents half of the program's all-time total of 10 postseason trips.
