Bronx, N.Y. – (April 22, 2018) – George Washington's Nathan Woods tossed a complete game, five-hitter with eight strikeouts, while Dominic D'Alessandro drove in a pair of runs, as the Colonials took the rubber game of the series over the Fordham Rams, 7-2, on Sunday afternoon at Houlihan Park.
With the loss, Fordham fell to 23-14-1 on the season, 7-5 in the Atlantic 10, while George Washington moved to 22-17 overall, 8-4 in the league.
The Colonials put the Rams in a hole earlier with three runs in the second inning. With runners at the corners and two away, Fordham pitcher
Anthony DiMeglio got Matt Cosentino to ground out to short, but
Matt Tarabek fumbled the ball and could not make the throw in time, allowing an unearned run to score. Two more unearned runs scored later in the frame on RBI-singles by Isaiah Pasteur and Brandon Chapman for a 3-0 lead.
George Washington added to the lead with three more runs in the fifth, highlighted by a two-run double to right center by Dominic D'Alessandro.
Fordham got on the board in the bottom of the fifth to make it 6-1 on an RBI-single by
Jake Baker, scoring
Brian Goulard, who walked and moved to second on a single by
Colton Snelling.

GW got that run back right away in the sixth on an RBI-single from Robbie Metz, re-gaining a six-run edge.
The Rams would only get one run the rest of the way, scoring on an error in the bottom of the sixth after a double by
Justin Bardwell.
DiMeglio (5-1) took his first loss of the season, allowing three earned runs on seven hits over five innings of work.
Mike Cowell went the next two innings, allowing one run on two hits, while
Matt Mikulski and
Joseph Quintal each threw a scoreless inning.
At the plate, Fordham managed just five hits in the game. Baker was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Snelling also had a pair of hits.
The Fordham baseball team will next be in action on Wednesday, April 25
th, as the Rams will play at Yale for a 3:30 PM start.
