Men’s Basketball Travels to Dayton on Saturday

Rams visit Flyers in A-10 Matchup

Dayton, Ohio  – The Fordham University men's basketball Rams continue their 2017-2018 Atlantic 10 season, the 115th season of varsity basketball at Rose Hill, by traveling to Dayton, Ohio, to face the University of Dayton Flyers in the UD Arena on Saturday, February 17, at 7:00 p.m.
 
The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports Ohio and streamed live on Foxsportsgo.com with Jeff Piecoro (p-b-p) and Derrick Dukes (color) announcing and broadcast on WFUV (90.7 FM) and www.wfuvsports.org  with Matt Murphy (p-b-p) and Tom Scibelli (color) announcing.
 
Fordham enters the game with a 9-16 overall record, 4-9 in the Atlantic 10, after a 71-55 A-10 loss to Saint Joseph's in the Rose Hill Gym on Wednesday night while Dayton is 11- 14 overall, 5-8 in the conference, after an 85-67 A-10 loss at George Mason on Wednesday.
 
Saturday night's contest will be the 35th meeting between Fordham and Dayton on the hardwood with the Flyers leading the all-time series, which started in 1952-53, 29-5. Dayton has won the past 13 match-ups, including last year's meeting, 75-66, on January 31 in the Rose Hill Gym as Kendall Pollard netted 25 points and Charles Cooke added 14. 

Notes
 
• Senior guard Will Tavares, who leads the Rams in scoring (14.0 ppg), has scored in double figures in 19 of his 23 games this year with a double-double in each of his past two games (he missed the Saint Joseph's game due to injury). He is currently 20th in the Atlantic 10 in scoring.
 
• Tavares does most of his damage in the second half of games where he is averaging 9.1 ppg (compared to 4.9 in the first half).
 
• After averaging just over 17 minutes per game over the first 20 contests this year, sophomore guard Cavit Havsa has stepped up his game, playing all but one minute over the past five games.
 
• Havsa is averaging 9.0 ppg and 2.8 rpg over the past five games, shooting .750 (18-14) from the field.
 
• Junior guard Joseph Chartouny leads the NCAA this year in steals/game with 3.35.
 
• Chartouny has 227 career steals, good for a third place tie on the Fordham all-time list.
 
• Chartouny has 406 career helpers, sixth-best in school history.
 
• Chartouny is one of three Atlantic 10 players to rank in the top 25 in assists, steals and rebounds, joining Davidson's Jon Axel Gudmundsson and Saint Louis' Jordan Goodwin.
 
• Fordham also leads the league, and is sixth in the nation, in steals with 235 (9.4/game).
