Men’s Basketball Hosts NJIT on Tuesday

Rams look to improve to 8-2 on season

Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham University men's basketball Rams continue their 2018-2019 season by hosting the NJIT Highlanders in the historic Rose Hill Gym on Tuesday, December 11, at 8:00 p.m.
 
The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with Mike Watts (p-b-p) and Emmanuel Berbari (color) announcing and broadcast on WFUV (00.7 FM) and www.wfuvsports.org with Raffaele Elia (p-b-p) and Vinny DeBellis (color) announcing.
 
Fordham enters the game with a 7-2 record and is coming off a 78-70 win over Rutgers in the Rose Hill Gym on Saturday afternoon while NJIT is 9-2 on the season after an 82-60 win over St. Francis (NY) in Newark on Saturday.
 
Tuesday night's contest will be the second meeting between Fordham and NJIT on the hardwood with the Rams taking the first meeting, 88-44, in 2007 in the Rose Hill Gym.
 
Notes
• Freshman Nick Honor was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the third time this season on Monday.
 
• Freshman Nick Honor is sixth in the Atlantic 10 and eighth among all NCAA Div. I freshmen, averaging 18.9 ppg.
 
• The Rams lead the Atlantic 10 with 10.0 three-pointers made/game.
 
• Fordham is averaging 75.3 ppg in 2018-2019, fifth best in the Atlantic 10 and a 12-point improvement from last year.
 
• The Rams will be led by two captains in 2018-2019, senior forward David Pekarek and senior guard Antwon Portley.
 
• Besides eight new freshmen, the Rams also welcome two transfers to the lineup in 2018-2019, Portley (Saint Peter's) and senior Erten Gazi (DePaul). Both sat out last year after transferring to Fordham and each will have another year of eligibility remaining.
 
• Fordham is one of the youngest teams in the NCAA Div. I this year with eight freshmen and two sophomores on the 17-man roster.
 
• The Rams are an international team with five players from foreign countries.
