Dayton, Ohio – The Fordham volleyball team fell in straight sets at Dayton on Friday night, 17-25, 17-25, 11-25. With the loss, the Rams fall to 9-10 overall and 2-4 in Atlantic 10 play, while the Flyers improve to 15-5 and 6-1, respectively.
The first halves of sets one and two were evenly contested and saw the two schools within one point towards the midway mark. In the first set, Fordham led, 12-11, and in set two, things were tied, 15-15, after a 3-0 run by the visitors. However, Dayton would use lengthy runs from those moments on to run away with each frame. The Flyers never trailed in set three.
Senior
Olivia LaPorta led the way offensively for Fordham with seven kills at a .462 clip, adding two blocks, two digs, and an ace.
Kaitlin Morley and
McKenna Lahr, who had each entered the match with six straight double-doubles, combined for nine kills and eight digs.
Morgan Williams led the way defensively with 11 digs, while
Sophia Plett ran the offense with 18 assists. Fordham hit .111 as a team, while Dayton hit .398 with nearly twice as many kills.
Fordham wraps up its four-match road swing at Saint Louis on Sunday afternoon. That match will tip off at 2 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
