Men’s Basketball Travels to Rhode Island on Wednesday

Rams looking to knock off other A-10 Rams

Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham University Rams continue their 2016-2017 Atlantic 10 season, the 114th season of varsity basketball at Rose Hill, by traveling to Kingston, R.I., to face the University of Rhode Island Rams in the Ryan Center on Wednesday, February 15, at 7:00 p.m.
 
The game will be streamed live on Facebook Live with Eric Frede (p-b-p) and Chris DiSano (color) announcing and broadcast on WFUV (90.7 FM) and www.wfuvsports.org with Drew Casey (p-b-p) and Matt Murphy (color) announcing. Follow the links above.
 
Fordham enters the game with a 10-15 overall record, 4-8 in the Atlantic 10, after a 73-67 Atlantic 10 loss at George Mason on Saturday night, while Rhode Island is 16-8 on the season, 8-4 in the A-10, after falling to Dayton, 75-74, in the Ryan Center on Friday night.
 
Wednesday night's contest will be the 65th meeting between Fordham and Rhode Island on the hardwood with Rhode Island leads the all-time series, which started in the 1941-42 season, 37-27. The two teams split a pair of games last year with Rhode Island taking the first matchup, 79-63, in Kingston on January 27 as Jared Terrell scored a game-high 25 points and Jarvis Garrett added 16 for Rhode Island while Fordham won the second, 64-61, in the Rose Hill Gym on March 5 as Antwoine Anderson hit a three-pointer with three seconds left to break a tie.
 
Notes
 
• Junior forward Christian Sengfelder was named First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District last week and he will now be placed on the ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors.
 
• Sophomore guard Joseph Chartouny leads the NCAA in steals/game, averaging 3.46 and is third in the league and 36th in the country in assists/game (5.4). He tied his career-high with seven steals against Rutgers.
 
• Chartouny has set a new school record with 83 steals so far in 2016-2017 (former record was 78 by Jason Harris in 1999-2000).
 
• Junior forward Christian Sengfelder has made 145 career three-pointers, the tenth best total in school history.
 
• Graduate transfer Javontae Hawkins netted his 1,000th collegiate point in the VCU game, leading the Rams with 22 points in the contest. Hawkins has 1,070 career points as a collegiate (224 at South Florida, 511 at Eastern Kentucky and 335 at Fordham).
 
• The Rams lead the Atlantic 10 and are second in the NCAA in steals per game (10.3) and total steals (258).
 
• Fordham has recorded double digit steal totals in 16 of the 25 games this year.
 
• The Rams are also second in the NCAA in turnover margin (5.6) and turnovers forced (18.40/game).
