Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham men's soccer team celebrated Senior Night on Saturday, honoring one of its more decorated classes prior to the game. However, the night ended sourly for the Rams, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Saint Louis Billikens at Jack Coffey Field.
With the loss, Fordham moves to 10-4-2 overall, 4-2-1 in the Atlantic 10, while Saint Louis improved to 6-8-1 on the year, 3-4-0 in the league.
The Rams had a number of scoring chances in the first half, but could not crack the scoreboard. The best of those opportunities came in the 42
nd minute, when
Jannik Loebe put a cross into the box from the left side.
Connor DeFilippis got on the other end with a one-touch that was stopped by the sprawling Saint Louis goalkeeper, Sascha Otte.
In the second half, Saint Louis scored early in the period in the 49
th minute to go up, 1-0. Saadiq Mohammed put a ball in front from the endline to Anthony Brown. Brown deflected the ball to Patrick Sarr, who scored from nine yards out for his second goal of the season.
The Billikens then caught a break as a Fordham miscue made it, 2-0, in favor of Saint Louis. In trying to head the ball back to the goalkeeper, Fordham's
Joergen Oland was too strong with the header, putting it over
Rashid Nuhu's reach and inside the left post for an own goal.

The Rams battled back to get within one at 2-1 in the 81
st minute. Loebe went on a run to the box, dishing the ball to
Eric Ohlendorf. Ohlendorf laid the ball off to
Jacob Bohm, who crossed the ball in front for a diving header by
Bart Dziedzic for his first goal of the season.
Fordham continued the pressure and had a golden opportunity to tie the game in the 85
th minute, when a cross by Loebe was knocked down with a handball in the box, awarding a penalty kick to Fordham. Loebe took the penalty, but drove it just over the right side of the crossbar.
Fordham had one more shot in the final minutes, but Dziedzic's attempt at a second header goal went left in the 88
th minute, handing the Rams only their second loss since Labor Day.
In net, Otte had four saves for the Billikens, while Nuhu had two for Fordham.
The Fordham men's soccer team will next be in action on Wednesday, November 1
