Bronx, N.Y. – The 20
th ranked Fordham water polo team completed a perfect week of home matches on Saturday, picking up a 14-5 win over Mercyhurst and a 12-5 decision over Salem International to improve to 3-0 at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center this season.
With the victories, the Rams improved to 14-6 on the season.
In game one, Fordham's
Jake Miller-Tolt scored four times to lead the offensive attack in a 14-5 win over Mercyhurst.
The Rams jumped out of the gates fast with a 5-1 lead after the first quarter, led by two goals from Miller-Tolt.
Massimiliano Mirarchi,
Tristen Knoflick and
Samuel Varshisky also scored in the period for Fordham.
Fordham increased its lead to 9-3 by halftime behind two more tallies from Mirarchi, while
Cole Donnelly and
Magnus Sims each scored once.
The Rams played lockdown defense in the second half, allowing just two goals, while scoring five for the 14-5 final.
Miller-Tolt led the offense with four goals and an assist, while Mirarchi had three markers and an assist.
Phillip Wang had two goals and two steals with
George Maltby having a goal and an assist. In net,
Alex Jahns played the first two quarters, recording four saves, two assists, and five steals, while
Patrick Coffey played the final two quarters, making five stops.
In game two, the scoring duo of
Ethan Vandeventer and
Ian Watson combined for seven of Fordham's 12 goals in a 12-5 victory over Salem International.

Just like in game one, the Rams jetted out to a 5-1 lead, highlighted by a pair of goals from Watson with Mirarchi, Miller-Tolt, and Sims recording the other three.
Vandeventer then helped increase the Rams' lead to 9-3 with two goals in the second quarter, while
Diego Delgado and
Joseph Agabs each scored once.
Salem International scored the only goal of the third period, but the Rams put away the game with a three-goal third period, which had two more goals by Vandeventer and one for Watson as each completed the hat trick.
Besides Vandeventer and Watson, Agabs finished with a goal and three assists with Delgado having a goal and two assists. Mirachi and Miller-Tolt each finished with a goal and three steals. In goal, Jahns finished with nine saves over the first two quarters, while Coffey had five saves, including a penalty block.
The Fordham water polo team will next be in action on Thursday, October 26
th, when the Rams travel to New Rochelle to face the Iona Gaels in the annual Judge Cup game, beginning at 7:30 PM.
