Philadelphia, Pa. – Despite a late goal by Fordham's
Carlie Wagner to force overtime and a season-high eight saves by
Kelly LaMorte, the Fordham women's soccer team fell to the Saint Joseph's Hawks, 2-1, in double overtime at Sweeney Field on Thursday night in Philadelphia.
With the loss, Fordham falls to 5-8-5 on the year, 2-5-2 in the Atlantic 10, while Saint Joseph's improved to 9-5-3 on the year, 4-3-2 in the league.
Late goals were the storyline of the game, as each team found the back of the net in the final minutes of each half, forcing overtime. First, Saint Joseph's took a 1-0 lead in the 43
rd minute. Kylie D'Ambra put the initial shot toward goal that Fordham goalkeeper
Kelly LaMorte stopped as the ball hit the left post. Hannah Racis then put in the rebound for her fifth goal of the season.

The score stayed that way until the final minute of regulation, when Fordham struck to tie the game at one.
Natalie Sims chased down the ball to the endline and put a cross into the box.
Carlie Wagner got a leg on it to deflect the ball into the net with just 36 seconds left for her third goal of the season.
The game headed into overtime for the eighth time this season for Fordham. After a scoreless first session, the Hawks continued the late period goal storyline, getting the game-winner in the 109
th minute. After a foul, Paige Bergman put a long ball into the box, that Taylor Ryan got a head on, deflecting the ball into the net for her second tally of the year.
In net, LaMorte registered a season-high eight saves, as the Hawks outshot Fordham, 29-13, in the game. Grace Bendon had two stops in the win for Saint Joseph's.
The Fordham women's soccer team will conclude its 2017 season on Sunday, October 22
nd, when the Rams host Saint Louis for Senior Day at Jack Coffey Field, beginning at 1:00 PM.
