Matthew Lewis and Janos Loebe Net Goals for Fordham

St. Bonaventure, N.Y. – Fordham's Janos Loebe netted a goal and an assist, while Matthew Lewis also scored, as the Fordham Rams topped the St. Bonaventure Bonnies, 2-0, in Atlantic 10 men's soccer action at the Marra Athletic Fields Complex in St. Bonaventure, N.Y.

With the win, Fordham improved to 8-3-2 on the season, 2-1-1 in the Atlantic 10, while St. Bonaventure fell to 4-7-2 overall, 0-3 in the conference.

The Rams had the majority of scoring chances in the first half, but St. Bonaventure goalkeeper Luke Iacobellis held strong in the net, make three saves on shots by Matt Miller in the 24th minute, Jacob Bohm in the 30th minute, and Jannik Loebe in the 32nd minute to keep the game scoreless at halftime.

In the second half, the Fordham offense continued to sniff for the opening goal, as Janos Loebe hit the goal post in the 64th minute, while Iacobellis made three more saves on Connor DeFillippis (61'), Janos (71'), and Christopher Bazzini (72').

A little over three minutes later, Janos Loebe made it 2-0 in favor of the Rams, as he dribbled through the middle of the box, and scored on a shot to the upper 90 for his team-leading sixth goal of the season.

That would be all the offense Fordham would need, as the Rams allowed eight shots, but none on Fordham goalkeeper Rashid Nuhu, who earned his eighth shutout of the season.

The Fordham men's soccer team will next be in action on Saturday, October 14th, as the Rams host the Saint Joseph's Hawks at Jack Coffey Field, beginning at 7:00 PM.
