Bronx, N.Y. – Despite the wintry conditions outside, the Saint Joseph's University men's basketball squad got off to a hot start and, despite a second half comeback attempt, the Fordham University squad couldn't catch up as the Rams fell to the Hawks, 70-55, in an Atlantic 10 game in the Rose Hill Gym.
With the loss, Fordham falls to 6-10 overall, 0-3 in the Atlantic 10, while Saint Joseph's improves to 8-6 overall, 2-1 in the conference.

Will Tavares led the Rams with 12 points each while
Joseph Chartouny and Will Hawkins added eleven.

The Hawks shot a sizzling 60.7 percent (17-28) in the first half and finished the game shooting 52.8 percent (28-53) while the Rams were cold from the field, shooting 33.3 percent in the game (22-66).
Saint Joseph's used the hot first half shooting to build a 16-9 lead six minutes into the game before Fordham went on a 7-4 spurt to pull within four, 20-16, on a Tavares three-pointer midway through the half.
The Fordham offense then went cold as the Hawks outscored the Rams 12-2 over the next four minutes to take a 32-18 lead with six minutes left and Saint Joseph's would build the lead to 15 at the break, 44-29.
The Hawks pushed the lead to 17 early in the second half, 48-31, when Fordham used a 16-4 run to make it a four-point game, 52-47, on an Anderson three with 13:15 remaining. Hawkins led the run with six points.
But the Fordham offense again went cold as Saint Joseph's scored 16 unanswered points to take a commanding 68-47 lead with 6:27 left
The Rams return to action on Wednesday, January 11, as they travel to Davidson, N.C., to face the Davidson College Wildcats in an Atlantic 10 game in Belk Arena at 7:00 p.m.

Fordham held Saint Joseph's to just four three-pointers made.
The Rams forced 16 Saint Joseph's turnovers and outscored the Hawks, 21-5, in points off turnovers.
Fordham has dropped three straight to Saint Joseph's and the Hawks now lead the all-time series, 35-17.
The win was Saint Joseph's head coach Phil Martelli's 200th Atlantic 10 victory.
