Men’s Basketball Hosts Davidson on Saturday

Rams look to win third straight

Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham University Rams continue their 2016-2017 Atlantic 10 season, the 114th season of varsity basketball at Rose Hill, by hosting the Davison College Wildcats in the historic Rose Hill Gym on Saturday, January 28, at 12:00 p.m.
 
The game will be televised and streamed live on the NBC Sports Network with Rich Lerner (p-b-p) and David Kaplan (color) announcing and broadcast on WFUV (90.7 FM) and www.wfuvsports.org with Drew Casey (p-b-p) and Pat Costello (color) announcing. Follow the links above.
 
Fordham, winner of three of the past four games, enters the game with a 9-11 overall record, 3-4 in the Atlantic 10, after a 71-68 conference win at UMass on Saturday afternoon, while Davison is 10-8 on the season, 3-4 in the A-10, after defeating Duquesne, 74-60, at home on Tuesday night.
 
Saturday afternoon's contest will be the fifth meeting between Fordham and Davidson on the hardwood. The Wildcats took the first two meetings but the Rams have taken the past two, including a 60-54 victory at Davidson on January 11 as Javontae Hawkins scored 17 points and added nine rebounds and Antwoine Anderson added 15 points and four assists.
 
Notes

• The Fordham coaches will be participating in the Suits and Sneakers collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

• Sophomore guard Joseph Chartouny leads the NCAA in steals/game, averaging 3.58 and is second in the league and 39th in the country in assists/game (5.4). He tied his career-high with seven steals against Rutgers.
 
• Graduate transfer Javontae Hawkins netted his 1,000th collegiate point in the VCU game, leading the Rams with 22 points in the contest. Hawkins has 1,023 career points as a collegiate (224 at South Florida, 511 at Eastern Kentucky and 288 at Fordham).
 
• The Rams lead the Atlantic 10 and are third in the NCAA in steals per game (10.5) and are fourth in total steals (210).
 
• Fordham has recorded double digit steal totals in 14 of the 20 games this year.
 
• The Rams are also second in the NCAA in turnover margin (6.0) and third turnovers forced (19.10/game).
