Men’s Basketball Travels to St. Bonaventure on Saturday

Rams looking for second straight A-10 win

Bronx, N.Y. – The Fordham University men's basketball Rams continue their 2016-2017 Atlantic 10 season, the 114th varsity season at Rose Hill, by traveling to Rochester, N.Y., to face the St. Bonaventure University Bonnies, in the Blue Cross Arena on Saturday, January 14, at 4:30 p.m.
 
The game will be televised live on the NBC Sports Network with Jason Knapp (p-b-p) and Blaine Fowler (color) announcing and broadcast on WFUV (90.7 FM) and www.wfuvsports.org with Drew Casey (p-b-p) and Pat Costello (color) announcing.

Fordham enters the game with a 7-10 overall record, 1-3 in the Atlantic 10, after a 60-54 conference win at Davidson on Wednesday night, while St. Bonaventure is 10-6 on the season, 2-2 in the A-10, after falling at Richmond, 78-61, on Wednesday night.
 
Saturday afternoon's contest will be the 39th meeting between Fordham and St. Bo­naventure on the hardwood with the Bonnies leading the all-time series, which started in the 1955-56 season, 23-15 (two St. Bonaventure wins in 2002-03 were later forfeited for use of an ineligible player). The Bonnies have won three straight, including last year's match-up, 76-72 in overtime in the Rose Hill Gym on February 10 as Dion Wright netted 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Bonnies while Ryan Rhoomes led all scorers for the Rams with 23 points.

• Saturday afternoon's contest in Richmond will be a Homecoming for Fordham redshirt junior guard Antwoine Anderson, a native of the Snapshot city. Anderson earned second Team All-State and was named Democrat and Chronicle All-Greater Rochester Player of the Year at Bishop Kearney in 2013.
 
• Saturday afternoon's contest will be the fifth game that the Rams have played in the Flour (or Flower) City where Fordham is a perfect 4-0. Fordham has played the University of Rochester three times, defeating the Yellowjackets 74-61 in 1966, 66-57 in 1969 and 128-72 in 1971 with Digger Phelps at the helm. The 1971 game was the championship game of the Kodak Classic with the Rams defeating California, 84-63, in the first round at the War Memorial. The 128 points scored in the 1971 game is still a school record with Charlie Yelverton scoring a school-record 46 points in the contest.
 
• Sophomore guard Joseph Chartouny is second in the NCAA in steals/game, averaging 3.56 and is second in the league and 40th in the country in assists/game (5.4). He tied his career-high with seven steals against Rutgers.
 
• The Rams lead the Atlantic 10 and are fifth in the NCAA with 176 total steals in 2016-2017.
 
• Fordham leads the Atlantic 10 and is fourth in the NCAA in steals/game (10.4).
 
• Fordham has recorded double digit steal totals in eleven of the 16 games this year.
 
• The Rams are also second in the NCAA in turnover margin (6.5) and third in turnovers forced (19.00/game).
 
• The Rams are third in the Atlantic 10 and 50th in the NCAA in three-pointers attempted this this year (420).
