Breanna Cavanaugh Joins Women’s Basketball Recruiting Class

Cal Transfer Joins Rams’ Roster

Fordham women's basketball head coach Stephanie V. Gaitley announced today the addition of transfer Breanna Cavanaugh (Allamuchy, N.J./Blair Academy (Cal)) to the Rams for the 2016-17 season.

"We are very excited to welcome Bre Cavanaugh and her family to the Fordham family. Bre will be a great addition to our backcourt.  She can score, pass and most importantly defend," said Gaitley. "She is a tough competitor that will help us in our goal to reach new heights as a program. Simply said, she is a winner!"

Cavanaugh, a 5-8 guard, comes to Fordham after one season at Cal, where she missed the season due to injury.

Coming out of high school at Blair Academy in New Jersey, Cavanaugh rated as a four-star recruit and No. 91 overall by ESPN HoopGurlz and ranked in the Top 100 nationally by All Star Girls Basketball Report (No. 69), Prospects Nation (No. 99) and Blue Star Basketball (No. 100).  She averaged 17 points, six assists, four steals and eight rebounds per game in her junior season at Blair Academy.  As a senior, she reached the 1,000 point plateau, and averaged over 19 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals per game.

A three-time participant at Nike Nationals and a one-time participant at the Adidas National Camp, Cavanaugh earned invitations to the Nike Skills Academy and the 8Eye Classic in Philadelphia.  She was a three-time New Jersey All-State first team selection and a three-time All-MAPL (Mid-Atlantic Prep) selection.  She led Blair Academy to three consecutive Mid-Atlantic League and New Jersey State championships from 2012-14 and a 63-8 record over that span.

Cavanaugh also volunteered locally in New Jersey on behalf of Habitat for Humanity, youth basketball programs and the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.

Cavanaugh joins Anna Kelly (Lexington, Mass./Lexington), Mary Goulding (Christchurch, New Zealand/Rangoria (Gillette College)), and Monika Radomska (Wolomin, Poland/John Paull II (Casper College)) in this year's recruiting class.
