Philadelphia, Pa. – In what seemed like a repeat on Friday's game, Saint Joseph's hit five home runs on Saturday, two of which came from Cal Jadacki, as the Hawks topped the Fordham Rams, 14-3, at Smithson Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
With the loss, Fordham falls back to 26-25 overall, 12-8 in the Atlantic 10, while Saint Joseph's moved to 27-19 on the season, 13-7 in the league.
Saint Joseph's started the scoring in the second inning, as Charlie Concannon hit a solo home run to right, his fourth of the year.
Fordham got on the board in the fourth, scoring twice for a 2-1 lead.
Mark Donadio ripped a one-out double down the right field line to start the rally, followed by a walk to
Luke Stampfl.
Justin Bardwell then sneaked a single through the left side, scoring Donadio from second with Stampfl going to third.
Ryan Mahoney then hit a high chopper for a fielder's choice, scoring Stampfl from third.
The Hawks then exploded for six runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 7-2 lead. After the Hawks tied the game on a single and three wild pitches, John Brue hit a two-run home run to right, while Cal Jadacki hit a three-run home run to right for the five-run lead.
Saint Joseph's added two more runs in in the sixth, capitalizing on a pair of Fordham errors, and then scored five in the eighth inning, getting a grand slam home run from Jadacki and a solo home run from Brian Lau.
Fordham closed out its scoring in the ninth, with
Pat Gardner scoring on an RBI-single by
Jason Lundy.
Fordham starter
Joseph Serrapica (4-5) took the loss, allowing seven runs on eight hits over 4.2 innings of work with four walks and five strikeouts. At the plate, Lundy was 2-for-4 with an RBI, while
Joseph Runco also had a pair of hits.
The same two teams will wrap up their series on Sunday with a 1:00 PM game.
