Rams & Explorers to Play Noon Doubleheader on Sunday Due To Impending Weather on Saturday

La Salle's Joey Ravert threw six innings on the mound, while collecting four hits and five RBI at the plate, as the Explorers topped the Fordham Rams, 16-4, at Hank DeVincent Field in the Atlantic 10 series opener between the two schools.

With the loss, Fordham falls to 14-16 overall, 2-2 in the Atlantic 10, while La Salle improved to 10-21 overall, 2-2 in the league.

La Salle jumped on Fordham starter Kirk Haynes, Jr. immediately, scoring five times in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run home run by Joey Ravert.  The offensive outburst snapped Haynes' consecutive scoreless innings streak at 30 innings.

Fordham answered back with two in the second, as the Rams loaded the bases and got a two-run single to right by Joseph DeVito.

The Explorers then went on to score the next seven runs to go up by a 12-2 score through seven innings.

Fordham scored twice in the eighth, but the Explorers rallied for four in the bottom of the inning, highlighted by a three-run double by Ravert, to finish off the 16-4 win.

For Fordham, Haynes (3-1) took the loss, allowing seven earned runs on eight hits and two walks.  At the plate, DeVito was 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Mark Donadio also had two hits.

Due to the forecast on Saturday, the two teams have decided to play a noon doubleheader on Sunday, April 10th to close out the series.
