Baseball Unable To Battle Back Against Presbyterian

Rams Conclude First Pitch Invitational on Sunday against Michigan State

Presbyterian's Brian Kehner allowed just three hits over 5.1 innings of work, while Brett Auckland had two hits and two RBI, as the Blue Hose downed the Fordham Rams, 7-1, at the First Pitch Invitational, hosted at Fluor Field in Greenville, South Carolina.  The loss drops Fordham to 1-1 on the year.

After a scoreless first inning, Presbyterian netted two runs in the second on a sacrifice fly by Chapman and an RBI-single by Hedrick, and then added a run in the fifth on an RBI-groundout by Weyenberg for a 3-0 lead.

The Rams cut the lead back to two in the top of the sixth, as Ryan McNally led off the inning with a solo home run to left field, his first of the season.  Fordham threatened for more damage, getting two runners on with one out later in the inning, however Presbyterian reliever Wortkoetter got Ian Edmiston and Ryan Mahoney to strike out and end the inning.

The Blue Hose then extended their lead in the bottom of the seventh with three runs for a 6-1 lead, and then added another run in the eighth on an RBI-double by Auckland for the 7-1 final score.

Joseph Serrapica (0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs on five hits with three strikeouts, while Ryan Remo (1 IP, 1 K), Moshup Galbraith (0.2 IP, 3 R), Anthony DiMeglio (0.1 IP, 1 K), and Anthony Zimmerman (1 IP, 1 R) pitched out of the bullpen.

At the plate, McNally was 1-for-3 with a home run, while Joseph Runco was 1-for-4 with a stolen base.  Matthew Kozuch had the Rams' only other hit.

The Rams conclude action at the First Pitch Invitational on Sunday with an 11:00 AM game against Michigan State.
