Claremont, Calif. – The Fordham water polo team concluded their west coast trip to California, posting a 2-2 record at the Gary Troyer Tournament, hosted at Pomona-Pitzer's Haldeman Pool in Claremont, California.
Fordham wraps up its road trip at 4-2, while evening its overall record at 10-10.
On Friday, the Gary Troyer Tournament began with a 13-7 loss to Redlands.
Fordham opened with a 2-0 lead on goals by Tristan Knoflick and
Jake Miller-Tolt. Redlands responded with seven straight goals before
Cameron Shewchuck scored to make it a 7-3 game at the half.
The Rams got back within three on a couple of occasions, but Redlands scored the final three goals of the game for the 13-7 win.
For Fordham,
Diego Delgado scored three goals, with Knoflick, Miller-Tolt, Shewchuck and
Grant Keesling each scored once. In net,
Alex Jahns made five stops.
In game two on Friday, Fordham fell by the same score of 13-7 to Whittier.
Whittier came out clicking on all cylinders, three times in the first and four in the second and the third quarter, building up an 11-3 lead that they would not relinquish.

Knoflick led the Fordham attack with two goals and three steals, while
R.J. Simmons, Delgado,
Ian Watson,
J.J. Meador, and
Jacob Alexander also scored one apiece. In net, Jahns had nine saves and two steals.
Then on Saturday, the Rams began the day with a 10-7 win over Cal Lutheran.
Fordham scored twice in each of the first three quarters, and then capitalized for four tallies in the fourth quarter, including two by Miller-Tolt.
Delgado led the Fordham offense with three goals, two assists, and two steals, while Miller-Tolt had two goals and six steals. Knoflick, Shewchuck,
Magnus Sims,
Cole Donnelly, and Watson finished the scoring with one goal apiece.
Fordham followed that performance by closing out the Gary Troyer Tournament with a 6-5 win against Occidental.
With the score, tied at four, the turning point of the game was a penalty block by Jahns with 6:05 left in regulation. The Rams used the momentum from that play to pull ahead on an extra-man goal by Delgado with 3:05 to go. Shewchuck then scored with 1:11 left on the clock to make it a 6-4 game. Occidental did get a last second goal for the final of 6-5.
Delgado had two goals in the game, while Shewchuck had a goal and two assists. Miller-Tolt netted a goal and three steals with Simmons and Watson also scoring. In net, Jahns had six saves, three steals, and a penalty block.
The Fordham water polo team will next be in action on Thursday, October 13
th, when the Rams host Wagner at 7:30 PM.
