La Verne, Calif./Pasadena, Calif. - The Fordham water polo team began its annual California road trip on Thursday, winning a pair of matches against La Verne and CalTech.

Fordham opened the day's action with a 10-7 win over La Verne University.

The Rams opened with a 2-0 lead after the first quarter on goals by
Grant Keesling and
Jake Miller-Tolt. Fordham maintained a two-goal lead through the second before extending its lead to four, 8-4 in the third quarter. Miller-Tolt scored twice in the period with
Ian Watson adding the other goal in the period.

La Verne closed the gap to 8-7 in the fourth, but Fordham responded with markers by Miller-Tolt and
R.J. Simmons to close out the 10-7 win.

For Fordham, Miller-Tolt scored four goals to go with two steals with Simmons adding three goals and two assists.Â
Joseph Agabs, Keesling, and Watson had the other goals for Fordham, while
Diego Delgado had five steals and an assist. In net,
Alex Jahns made ten saves in the win.

In game two, the Rams had their way with CalTech, earning a 21-5 win.

Fordham opened the match with the first four goals of the game with two by Miller-Tolt and one each by Keesling and Delgado, and led by a 5-2 count after the first quarter.

The Rams followed with six goals in the second, and five in both the third and fourth quarters.

The Rams were led offensively by
J.J. Meador's four goals, while Keesling had three goals and an assist.Â
Cameron Shewchuck added two goals, three assists, and three steals with
Samuel Varshisky having two goals and two assists. Watson, Agabs, and Miller-Tolt also had two goals each for the Rams with
Yuki Saito, Delgado,
Cole Donnelly, and
Jacob Alexander rounding out the offense with a goal each. In net,
Patrick Coffey got the start, making six saves to go with three assists.

The Fordham water polo team now enters play at the Gary Troyer Tournament, with games held at Pomona-Pitzer. The Rams face Redlands at 2:30 PM ET and Whittier at 8:45 PM ET.
