Volleyball Wraps Up Road Slate with Loss at Davidson

Seventh Straight Loss but Rams Remain in Seventh Place

Box Score

Davidson, N.C. – The Fordham volleyball team rounded out the road portion of the regular season on Sunday afternoon with a three-set loss, 25-19, 25-14, 28-26, at Davidson. The loss was the team's seventh in a row after starting league play with a 3-1 record. Fordham remains in seventh place, tied with George Washington, with a 10-16 (3-8 A-10) record, while the Wildcats improve to 10-15 (5-6 A-10).

Fordham's efficiency issues on offense continued with the second straight game in negative figures (-.024), while leading attacker Olivia Fairchild posted a season-low five kills on the day (-.219).

Natalie Martinez led the way with 10 kills (.200), her fourth double-digit kill match of the season, followed by Kaitlin Morley and Breanna Jones with seven and six, respectively. Morley had two of the biggest kills of the match, late in the third set putting the Rams up 25-24 and 26-25 and within a point of taking the set but two of the last three Davidson points to clinch the match came from Morley attack errors, the third being a blocked Fairchild attempt.

Maddy Walsh assisted on 18 kills and tallied 12 digs for a double-double, while Emily Fronk assisted on 13 points and Morgan Williams notched a match-high 19 digs. Kristen Ostach added another solo block, her 11th of the season, and four Rams had one ace.

Fordham has three games remaining, all at home, over the next two weekends and will need to win all three for a chance to jump into the top-six and into the A-10 Championship. The Rams host George Mason on Friday, November 4, at noon in the annual Field Trip Day match, and George Washington on Sunday the sixth at 1 p.m.
