Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham University Rams open their 2016 Atlantic 10 season, the 113th season of varsity basketball at Rose Hill, by traveling to Washington, D.C., to face the George Washington University Colonials in the Smith Center on Sunday, January 3, at 7:00 p.m.

The game will be televised live on the NBC Sports Network with Mike Corey (p-b-p) and Ron Thompson (color) announcing and can also be heard live on WFUV (90.7 FM) and on www.wfuvsports.org with Drew Casey (p-b-p) and Matt Moro (color) announcing. Follow the links above.

Fordham enters the game with a 9-2 record after a 64-55 loss to Boston College in the Barclays Center on December 22, a loss which snapped a nine-game Fordham winning streak. George Washington enters the game with an 11-2 record after defeating Central Florida, 67-50, in Orlando last Tuesday.

Sunday night's contest will be the 30th meeting between Fordham and George Washington on the hardwood. The Colonials lead the all-time series, which started in 1914-1915, 23-6.

Notes
• The Fordham game at George Washington will mark Fordham's first road game since the season opener at UT Arlington on November 14. It will also be Fordham's first game outside of New York City in that time (the Rams had nine straight home games followed by a contest with Boston College at the Barclays Center).

• The Rams enter the George Washington game off a 12-day break, last playing on December 22. The break is believed to be the longest in-season break for the Rams since the 1965-1966 season.

• Senior guard Mandell Thomas enters the game with 1,242 career points, 16th on the Fordham all-time scoring list. Thomas is 35 points behind Dave Maxwell (1980-1983) for 15th on the list.

• With his nine rebounds in the Boston College game, forward Ryan Rhoomes brought his career total to 718, placing him in eleventh place on the Fordham career rebounding list. Rhoomes is 25 behind Bill Carlson (1949-1952) for tenth on the all-time list.

• After shooting .415 from the field last year (711-1713), the 2015-2016 Rams are off to a hot start, shooting .477 (308-646) from the field, third best in the A-10. The Rams have also improved on their three-point shooting, hitting 40.1% of their long range shots (99-247), tops in the conference, compared to 30.5% (187-613) last year.
