DePaul's Erik Rodriguez had two goals and an assist, while Simon Megally also had two goals, as the Blue Demons knocked off the Fordham Rams, 4-0 at Wish Field in Chicago, Illinois.
With the loss, Fordham fell to 0-3, while DePaul moved to 1-3.
DePaul jetted out to a 3-0 lead in the first 29 minutes of action. The Blue Demons notched their first goal in the 18
th minute, as on a counter attack, Jake Scheper and Erik Rodriguez connected on a give-and-go with Rodriguez scoring in the center of the net.
Just five minutes later, the Blue Demons netted their second goal on a Simon Megally shot from 23 yards out, while in the 29
th minute, Rodriguez scored his second goal of the game on a loose ball that deflected off Fordham goalkeeper
Rashid Nuhu DePaul closed out the scoring in the 72
nd minute, as Rodriguez found Megally for his second goal of the game.
DePaul outshot Fordham 10-4 in the match with DePaul goalkeepers Quentin Low and Mack Robinson keeping Fordham off the scoreboard, making one save each. Nuhu had three saves for the Rams.
The Fordham men's soccer team will next be in action on Saturday, September 12
th, when the Rams play at Lafayette, beginning at 1:00 PM.
